A DCP can copy perfectly and still fail in the booth.
One corrupted reel, a hash that doesn't match, a playlist pointing at a file that isn't there — none of it shows when you look at the folder. It shows at the tech check, or at the screening, when the server refuses to ingest.

The CPL, PKL and ASSETMAP are read and cross-checked; every asset is hashed and compared with the hash the package promised; reel structure, frame rates and audio channels are checked against what a cinema server expects; and the package name is compared with what's actually inside.

Is DCP validation free?
Checking a DCP at filmvault.pro/validate is free, with no card. We hold the package for 12 hours — long enough to move it onto a Vault without uploading it twice — then delete it.
What's the difference between an error and a warning?
An error means a cinema server is likely to refuse or misplay the package: a hash mismatch, a missing asset, a broken playlist. A warning is something a projectionist may query, like a non-standard frame rate or a name that doesn't match the contents — it will usually still play.
Does it check SMPTE and Interop DCPs?
Both. The check reads either standard; every DCP FilmVault builds itself is SMPTE.
My DCP failed. What now?
Send the report to whoever made the package — each finding names the file and the problem. If you have the master, we can encode a fresh DCP from it instead.
