Terms of Service

Last updated 7 August 2026

Plain-language summary. FilmVault stores, validates, converts and shares your films. You keep full ownership of everything you upload — we only process it to run the service for you. You pay for the plan you choose; monthly plans carry a three-month minimum term, and you can cancel future renewals at any time. Don't upload content you don't have the rights to. The section below is the binding version.

1. Who we are

The Service is operated by FilmVault by wantek.pt (“FilmVault”, “we”, “us”, “our”). These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the FilmVault website, applications and services (together, the “Service”). By creating an account, purchasing a plan, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you confirm you are authorised to bind that organisation.

2. The service

FilmVault is a mastering, preservation and delivery platform for filmmakers, festivals and rights-holders. Depending on the plan and options you select, the Service lets you:

  • Store a complete film package — master, Digital Cinema Package (DCP), trailer, subtitles and artwork — in encrypted, integrity-checked storage.
  • Validate a DCP against the DCI specification and download a QC report.
  • Convert a source master into a screening-ready DCP, with optional AES-128 encryption.
  • Generate per-cinema Key Delivery Messages (KDMs) scoped to a date window.
  • Share films through private, revocable links, and deliver to festivals.

We may add, change or remove features over time. We will give reasonable notice of material changes that reduce core functionality of a paid plan.

3. Accounts & eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account details, for keeping your login credentials secure, and for all activity that occurs under your account. Some purchases can be started while logged out; completing payment creates an account for you, which you access by email sign-in link. Notify us promptly at hello@filmvault.pro if you suspect unauthorised use.

4. Your content & ownership

You own your content. Films, masters, DCPs, subtitles, artwork, metadata and anything else you upload (“Your Content”) remain yours. We claim no ownership of Your Content.

You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to host, store, copy, transcode, encrypt, transmit and display Your Content only as needed to operate the Service for you — for example to validate a DCP, run an encode, generate a screener, or deliver a file to someone you have shared it with. This licence ends when you delete the content or close your account, except for copies retained transiently in backups or as required by law.

You represent and warrant that you hold all rights necessary to upload Your Content and to authorise the processing and sharing described above, and that Your Content does not infringe the rights of any third party.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the Service to:

  • Upload, store or distribute content you do not have the rights to, or that infringes copyright, trademark or other rights.
  • Store or share unlawful material, or content that is defamatory, or that violates privacy or publicity rights.
  • Attempt to breach security, circumvent access controls or usage limits, probe or scan the infrastructure, or interfere with other users.
  • Resell, sublicense or provide the Service to third parties as your own without our written agreement.
  • Use the Service to distribute malware or for any illegal purpose.

We may remove content or suspend access that we reasonably believe violates this section.

6. Storage, capacity & fair use

Vault plans are priced per title and include a storage capacity ceiling. That ceiling is a fair-use limit intended to accommodate a normal film package (master, DCP and associated assets); it is not an invitation to use a single title vault as general-purpose bulk storage. If usage substantially exceeds the intended purpose of a plan, we may contact you to move to a more suitable plan or apply overage charges as described at checkout.

7. Plans, billing & payment

Prices are shown on the site in US dollars (USD). Buyers outside the US may be shown and charged in their local currency by our payment processor at checkout. Prices exclude any taxes unless stated; applicable VAT or sales tax is added where required.

  • Recurring plans (e.g. per-title vaults) renew automatically for successive periods until cancelled, at the price in effect at renewal. Monthly recurring plans carry a three-month minimum term: the first three months are billed together on your first invoice.
  • One-time purchases (e.g. an encode, a validation, add-ons, or overages) are charged once at the time of purchase.

Payments are processed by Stripe; by paying you also agree to Stripe's terms. We do not store your full card details. If a payment fails, we may retry, suspend the associated feature, or downgrade the plan.

8. Cancellation & refunds

You may cancel a recurring plan at any time from your account; cancellation stops future renewals and takes effect at the end of the current billing period — or, for a monthly plan cancelled within its three-month minimum term, at the end of that minimum term. Amounts billed for the minimum term are not refunded except where the law requires. Unless required by law or expressly stated otherwise, fees already paid are non-refundable, and one-time services that have already been performed (such as a completed encode or validation) are not refundable. Where you have a statutory right of withdrawal, that right applies as provided by law. If you believe you were charged in error, contact us and we will review it in good faith.

9. Availability & preservation

We work hard to keep the Service available and your files intact, using encrypted, integrity-checked storage. However the Service is provided on an “as available” basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, and — while we take preservation seriously — you are responsible for keeping your own master copies of anything irreplaceable. Do not treat FilmVault as your only copy of an original work.

10. Third-party services

The Service relies on third-party providers, including a payment processor (Stripe) and cloud storage infrastructure. Your use of features that depend on them is also subject to their terms, and we are not responsible for their acts or omissions. See our Cookie & storage notice for how these interact with your browser.

11. Suspension & termination

You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these Terms, fail to pay, or use the Service unlawfully. Where practical and lawful, we will give you notice and an opportunity to export Your Content before deletion. On termination, the licences you granted end and we may delete Your Content after a reasonable retention period, subject to legal obligations.

12. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law (such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, revenue, goodwill or data. Our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the Service in any 12-month period is limited to the amounts you paid us for the Service in that period.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes we will take reasonable steps to notify you (for example by email or a notice in the Service) before they take effect. Continuing to use the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
